Ljubljana, 11 May - TOPIC/WEEK/EDUCATION
Preparations for the introduction of the nine-grade elementary school have been fully launched in Slovenia (the country's elementary school education currently lasts eight years). 1,300 people have already attended one of the eleven regional conferences on nine-grade elementary school. In May, additional five conferences are to be held. The Slovene Ministry of Education, which together with representatives of elementary schools and local authorities, sponsors these conferences, believes that 2000 people, including parents, will attend these meetings. The issue of the nine-grade elementary school is also on agenda of the Parliament. Legislators are discussing the amendments to the education law.
