Collective Agreement Talks Make Better Progress Than Social Agreement Negotiations

Ljubljana, 21 May - SLOVENIA/CHAMBER/ECONOMY/SOCIAL/AGREEMENT
The Chamber of Economy and Slovene enterprises, in particular major exporters, support speedy ratification of the Europe Accord between Slovenia and the European Union, the Chamber's Executive Committee said at its session on Wednesday. Considering that Slovenia makes two thirds of its foreign trade with the EU member nations, delays in the ratification and hesitation in expressing Slovenia's will to join the EU would have negative effects for the economy. The committee also discussed negotiation for a new general collective agreement for economy and a new social agreement for the 1997-99 period. The employers pledged to seek adoption of both documents, but not at all costs.
