Delo: Has the National Interest Become More Important?
Ljubljana, 26 May - The Constitutional Court did take the compatibility of ratification of the associate accord with the Constitution seriously. Proof of that is that a formal and legal judgement expected (that the "Spanish initiative" is against law if article 68 of the Constitution is not changed) was not reached as early as during the first proceedings on 20 May. The fact that the decision has not been reached either during the second proceedings and it will take at least another week to do so could confirm a supposition saying the national interest has become more important. This way of reasoning might well seem too optimistic but the truth is that the rule "let the justice be done even if the world collapses" did not apply in this case, the Monday issue of Delo writes.
