Slovenia Deserves to Join NATO in the First Round, Claim U.S. Congressmen

"I am glad to see U.S. Congress members visit Slovenia before taking important decisions on NATO enlargement to see for themselves how Slovenia is fit as a candidate for full integration into the Euro-Atlantic area," Parliament Speaker Janez Podobnik said at a news conference on Monday at the end of a three-day visit by an 11-member U.S. delegation in Slovenia. Doug Bereuter, head of the delegation, expressed his personal opinion that Slovenia "deserves" to become a NATO member in the first round of enlargement. The same belief predominates with the majority of other members in the delegation, he added.
