Slovenian efforts to join the European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance intensified in all areas in June. Nevertheless, two major obstacles appeared although they were not entirely unexpected. Early last month, the Constitutional Court ruled that several parts of the Europe associate agreement were not in accordance with the constitution. In mid-June, however, the White House decided to reject Slovenia's candidacy for NATO membership in the first wave of expansion.
