International Mediator Watts Winds up Visit to Ljubljana

International mediator for succession to the former Yugoslavia Sir Arthur Watts said after the two-day talks with the Slovene negotiating group that it was not possible to talk about progress in reaching an agreement about the succession yet. So far he has discussed the observations to the revised draft memorandum, which he submitted to the five negotiating groups (Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia, FR Yugoslavia) in June 1997 in Brussels, only with the Macedonian and Slovene groups. He will be able to give more information about the progress after he has visited the capitals of Belgrade, Zagreb and Sarajevo, where he is to leave for next week.
