Ljubljana, 19 July - We wish to point out it was not self-understood that Slovenia was elbowing its way to the developed part of Europe and that it was an important achievement for the country to be invited in among the first. The invitation is a great event in Slovenia's history, proving in a highly condensed form that in the years following the independence Slovenia was nevertheless marching the right way. At the same time, we insist on our estimate that non-admission would not make such a major disaster either. The only disaster that could befall Slovenia in its recent history would be a failed independence, daily Delo writes in its Saturday Supplement.
