Review of Events in Slovene Foreign Policy in July

After a few days of rumours about his resignation Slovene Foreign Minister Zoran Thaler announced Thursday, 31 July, he was resigning from his post. In a statement for the press he stressed an important job had been done during his being foreign minister - Slovenia was invited to the negotiations about full membership in the European Union, the article 68 of Slovene constitution was amended and Slovenia ratified the Europe Agreement. This was achieved in difficult international circumstances and in nearly unbearable situation at home, said Thaler, adding he wanted to point out the urgent need for a national consensus about further integration of Slovenia in the safe and developed part of Europe.
