Economic Mirror: Export Competitiveness Worse in May

Ljubljana, 4 August - SLOVENIA/EXPORT/COMPETITIVNESS
After an improvement in April, export competitiveness of Slovene economy worsened again in May, the Economic Mirror, a monthly bulletin of the government Office for Macroeconomic Analysis and Development, writes in its July edition. Unit labor costs in the basket of currencies edged up 1.2 percent in the processing industry. While labor costs were up in real terms, effective exchange rates and labour productivity were down. Export competitiveness also improved in comparison to December 1996 and in year/year comparisons.
