Population in Slovenia Falling

Ljubljana, 9 August - Slovenia had a population of 1,986,448 at the end of the first quarter, 541 less than in end-1996. While the number of Slovene citizens shrunk by 1000 during the period, the number of foreign nationals with permanent residence in Slovenia increased from January to March by 5.8 percent.
