Weekly Review of Slovene Economy from August 10 to 16

Ljubljana, 16 August - The Bank of Slovenia received the English translation of the Cyprus Court ruling passed last week saying that under the Cyprus legislation the court was not competent to decide the case of Slovenia vs the former National Bank of Yugoslavia (NBY). In July 1996, Slovenia filed a lawsuit at the Nicosia District Court demanding freezing of US$ 146 million of funds that NBY deposited with the Belgrade Bank Cyprus branch. At the time, the court granted Slovenia's request, but the defendant appealed.
