Andreja Slokar wins final World Cup slalom of the season
Méribel, 19 March - Slovenian skier Andreja Slokar won the last World Cup slalom event of the season on Saturday, leaping from sixth place after the first run to achieve the second World Cup win of her career.
Slokar finished almost half a second ahead of the German Lena Dürr, who was in the lead after the first run, and 0.8 seconds ahead of Olympic champion Petra Vlhova of Slovakia. Another Slovenian competitor, Ana Bucik, was fourth.
This marks a dream close of the season for the 28-year-old from Ajdovščina, who started competing in the World Cup in 2018 but had little success until the last season.
This season, she started with a win and fourth place, but then had a series of finishes outside the top twenty before recovering in the final stages of the season.
Slokar is eighth in this year's slalom ranking, with Bucik in sixth place.
