Different Presidential Competition from the 1992 Vote

Ljubljana, 5 October - TOPIC/WEEK/ELECTION/97/PRESIDENT
Slovenes will face a considerably different choice in November presidential elections from what they were offered five years ago. At the time, there were eight presidential candidates including two women. All major parties put forth their candidates, there were no joint candidates, and Milan Kučan, the incumbent President, was the only independent candidate.
