Yesterday the Montecitorio Palace saw the final chapter of the rift that started with the fall of the Berlin Wall but has been present for nearly three decades, since the military occupation of Czechoslovakia. Regardless of differences, alliances have been saved so far; the recent anti-secession demonstration in Milan united both left-wing parties and the trade unions, but the unity of the Italian left and the Prodi government were ultimately buried by Bertinotti Thursday, the Friday issue of Primorski Dnevnik writes.
