Ljubljana, 11 October - The Croatia file was long considered the one slippery diplomatic territory which for politics was always associated with excessive risk and low expectations in the public used to all kinds of compromise. The potential of settled bilateral relations, bringing a country with little international significance some credibility and opening its way to the West, remained overlooked. Yet, explicit statements by officials in Brussels that the road to the European Union may not led solely across the Italian boot, but also across the Croatian chessboard, will hopefully force PM Drnovšek to action, cool down Deputy PM Podobnik and challenge FM Frlec, daily Delo writes in its Saturday supplement.
