55,000 New Telephone Extensions in 1997

Telekom Slovenia added 42,000 new telephone extensions to the nation's telephone network until the end of September, expecting to meet the year's annual plan of 55,000 new extensions by the end of the year. There are currently 700,000 telephone extensions in Slovenia, 35 per hundred residents. The number of unsolved applications has also dropped significantly due to intensified construction to 30,000 in end-September, almost 10,000 less than in the beginning of the year, Telekom reported.
