Europe Accord and New Banking Legislation - Major Topics on Agenda
Ljubljana, 16 October - The third seminar on banking titled Banks and Risks started in Portorož on Friday afternoon. Some 120 participants in the seminar were addressed by Bank of Slovenia Governor France Arhar and Finance Minister Mitja Gaspari. Gaspari spoke about the Slovenia's Europe Accord and legislation relative to the changes in the banking legislation in Slovenia. New laws on banks, foreign currency operations, capital market and some others are likely to be adopted by next September. Arhar, on the other hand, focussed on the preparations for the European Monetary Union and on how successful the Slovene banks are in comparison with European and American ones.
