Government Officials Meet with Leading Food-Processing Companies

Ljubljana, 21 October - FOOD/PROCESSING/GOVERNMENT
Tuesday's meeting of a government delegation headed by Vice Premier Marjan Podobnik and of representatives of the leading Slovene food processing companies focussed on some topical issues and possibilities for export to the markets of former Yugoslavia, especially Bosnia-Herzegovina (BiH). At the beginning of September the BiH government introduced some additional protection measures for imported food products form all countries with the exception of Croatia, which brought about a rise of one fourth in prices of Slovene food products. Tackling also some other problems that the Slovene food processing industry is faced with, the meeting was part of the preparations for the forthcoming visit of Slovene Prime Minister Janez Drnovšek to Sarajevo, where he will be accompanied by a business delegation.
