Sir Watts and Mejak on Succession

In the second round of talks with ex-Yugoslavia's successor countries, during which he will next visit Croatia, international mediator Sir Arthur Watts met on Friday evening with the Slovene negotiation team headed by Miran Mejak. The talks mainly focussed on financial aspects of succession, Sir Watts told after the meeting. According to Mejak, the Slovene side favours partial approach to succession by giving priority to settling issues concerning clearing surplus in trade with the former Soviet Union, gold reserves deposited with the Basel-seated Bank for International Settlements, the archives and ex-Yugoslavia's embassies abroad, Mejak said.
