Foreign labour force
"Procedures obstruct recruitment of foreigners": The biggest hall at GZS was almost too tight yesterday for everyone who wanted to take part in a debate on employment of foreigners, which shows how big a problem this has become for the Slovenian economy. (front page, 9)

Italy
"Culmination of political crisis": Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi tendered his resignation a year and a half after taking office, but President Sergio Matarella did not accept it in what is a culmination of the political crisis in the country. (front page, 6)

Parliament
"New victory for Institute 8 March": The National Assembly yesterday passed by 52 votes in favour and 27 against a bill drawn up by the NGO Institute 8 March which revokes changes to 11 laws passed under the previous government. (front page, 2)

Tour de France
"Pogačar hasn't had the last word": Stage 12 of the Tour de France showed the race is not decided yet. Slovenia's favourite Tadej Pogačar appeared much stronger and combative than the day before when he was crushed by Jonas Vingegaard, the Danish rider taking the lead. Pogačar indicated his legs are strong enough for new attacks on the yellow jersey. (front page, 19)

Energy prices
"After 13 years electricity prices regulated again": The Robert Golob government has made the first serious step in dealing with high electricity prices, capping them for a year for households and SMEs. (front page, 2, commentary 14)

Environment
"Toxic Gradaščica threat to Ljubljanica": After rotten pork got its way into the Gradaščica, followed by a fish kill in the same river a day later due to a leak of as yet unidentified toxic substance, the paper wonders whether these two events in the capital city are cause for concern. "Nice, but deserted": After a EUR 33 million refurbishment and upgrade, the Maribor railway station is standing all but deserted this summer. The trains stopping there are almost empty. (front page, 18, 19)

Energy prices
"Electricity prices capped from 1 September": Electricity bills for households will be reduced by between 15% for the cheapest and 30% for the most expensive provider. (front page, 4)

Parliament
"Left with clenched teeth": Miha Kordiš of the Left voted against the emergency bill which is to improve accessibility to general practitioners and cut short wait times for specialist examinations with the help of EUR 200 million. (front page, 2)

Tour de France
