Ljubljana, 4 August - An exhibition interlinking design and bees will open at an art gallery in Ljubljana on Thursday evening. It will showcase unique graphic and industrial design works while giving visitors food for thought on design, society, and bees.

Organized by the Designers Society of Slovenia and the Radovljica Beekeeping Museum, the exhibition titled From Blossom to Blossom - World of Bees in Design sets out to be a link between design and reality as people perceive it nowadays, when design is also drawing attention to the issues and changes around us, the organisers said.

Designers and other project partners offer a wide array of bee-related content in the exhibition that is held at the gallery Monuments Conservation Centre in French Revolution Square.

Designed by architect Andrej Milovanovič, a hostel in the Carniolan Bee House in Višnja Gora, central Slovenia, boasts twelve beehive-inspired rooms.

Designer Anka Štular is the mastermind behind Planterina, a smart planter that uses electronic sensors and a water container to make gardening a breeze even for absolute beginners.

Another highlight of the exhibition is Brina Fekonja's DIY BeeHive, a learning kit that teaches users about the importance of pollinators and includes tools to make your own experimental beehive.

Moreover, beehives were set up in Ig near Ljubljana by the Faculty of Design, the Ljubljana Prison, and the Urban Beekeepers' Association.

Several jewellery designers also display their bee-inspired pieces at the exhibition, and the JKH identity clothing brand has launched a folk art-inspired collection drawing inspiration from painted beehive panels.

Last but not least, the Medex food supplements and cosmetics company selling honey-infused products has launched a dedicated line with inspiring messages.

The exhibition will be on display until 5 September.
