Monthly Review of Slovenia's International Activity in October

Over the next two years, Slovenia will be non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council. It was elected to the post with an overwhelming majority of votes at the UN General Assembly in October. The month otherwise passed in preparations for accession to the European Union, for which the government drafted a strategy of action, while the parliament appointed Igor Bavčar minister of European affairs. In the second half of the month, outrage was caused by a resolution of the Carynthian provincial government addressed to the Austrian federal government demanding that Slovenia resolve a number of outstanding issues with Austria before joining the EU.
