Unemployment Rate April-June 1997 Reaches 7.1 Percent

The unemployment rate in the period between April and June 1997 reached 7.1 percent (7.0 percent for men and 7.2 percent for women), the National Office of Statistics reported. The active population in this period totalled 966,000, of which 69,000 were unemployed, while the non-active population was 669,000. The unemployment rate was approximately the same as in the same period last year.
