Like a nightmare, quite fitting the time of day, the fear vanished that Kaernten-Unter Steirmark peddlers would manage to put a spoke in the wheel of Slovenia's accession to Europe. True, the European Parliament is not the strongest of mechanisms in real political decision-making, but 625 personalities from 15 countries cannot be just overlooked, Maribor's daily Večer writes on Wednesday, commenting the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee ruling to rejection all four amendments concerning Slovenia, proposed by Hubert Pirker, a member of Austria's ruling People's Party.
