Slovene Railways Present Operations
Ljubljana, 24 November - SLOVENE/RAILWAYS
The Slovene Railways (SR) will increase the volume of operations by 6 percent, while cutting their loss by 50 percent over the last year. SR Director General Marjan Rekar estimates a loss to reach SIT 1.6 to 1.8 billion, of which SIT 600 million were incurred in the transport of passengers. SR income is to total nearly SIT 45 billion. Profit would amount to SIT 5.9 billion, if the state, the owner of the railway system, had assumed its liabilities since the rehabilitation scheme started four years ago, Rekar told a news conference on Monday.
