100th Anniversary of Public Telephone Service in Slovenia

Slovenia celebrates the 100th anniversary of public telephone service this year. The first manual telephone exchange station was opened on 16 October 1897 in Ljubljana. Moreover, Slovenia celebrates 70 years since the first automatic telephone exchange was opened in Ljubljana. In light of this, national operator Telekom Slovenia decided to mark these crucial moments in the development of telecommunications in Slovenia by connecting the 700,000th telephone subscriber to the telephone network.
