Olympic Committee
"Race for the top of sports family getting heated": Slovenia will get the third president of its Olympic Committee next Friday. The battle between the three candidates is set to be one of the most unpredictable yet. (front page, page 19)

Interior minister's resignation
"First resignation in Golob government": Interior Minister Tatjana Bobnar will step down today because PM Robert Golob would not endorse her team, she confirmed for Brussels correspondents of Slovenian media on Thursday. (front page, page 2)

Doctors' strike
"Strike in January": A survey in which most members of the largest doctors' trade union took part showed doctors are unhappy with the government's latest pay offer and the health minister's attitude, so they opted for a strike. (front page, page 3)

Football World Cup
"Time for hot Friday quarter-finals": The quarter-final fixture between Brazil and Croatia will be impatiently awaited in Slovenia as both teams have many supporters here. The Netherlands and Argentina will face off in the evening. (front page, page 18)

Power group bailout
"Half a billion without real guarantees": Despite high electricity prices the state-owned power group HSE will incur a substantial loss this year, having sold more electricity last year than it will generate this year at relatively low prices. Due to high debt, banks do not trust the state guarantee the company received to overcome the liquidity crisis. (front page, page 8)

Ljubljana passenger centre
"Building permit for new station this year": The project of the new Ljubljana passenger centre is so complex it is hard to understand; the permit for a new train station above the tracks is to be obtained this year, but construction is unlikely to begin before 2025. (front page, page 8)

Sexual abuse in sports
"New victim of riding instructor: I know now I'm not the only one": Almost two months after Dnevnik exposed sexual abuse in a Ljubljana equestrian club, another victim of the same riding instructor has come forward. (front page, pages 4, 5)

Bark beetle
