Slovenia's Premier Drnovšek Visits Ireland

Slovenia's Prime Minister Janez Drnovšek is paying his first official to Ireland. On Thursday afternoon, Drnovšek met in Dublin with Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern, who assured him that at December's EU summit in Luxembourg his nation would move for a prompt commencement of accession negotiations between the European Commission and Slovenia, and support a stance that Slovenia should be included in the first-round negotiations. Premier Drnovšek also met with House of Representatives Chairman Seamus Pattison and Senate Chairman Brian Mullooly, sources in the government delegation in Dublin reported.
