Slovenia will Not Be Outvoted in the EU
Ljubljana, 9 December - At a short expert seminar entitled The Role of Smaller Countries in the European Union, organized Tuesday in Ljubljana by the cabinet of the National Assembly speaker on the initiative of the Dutch embassy in Vienna, the Slovene representatives had an opportunity to get acquainted with the experiences of the Netherlands, one of the founding members of the then European Community. The former Dutch premier Andreas van Agt said at the news conference following the seminar that Slovenia must strive further to "remain the best guy in the class" among the candidates to join the EU, but it must not be surprised if - in spite of its good result - it will not be invited into the EU as early as in a few years' period.
