Mayor Praises Volume of Funds for Education

UNESCO's global goal is to see countries allocate six percent GDP for education annually. Slovenia came close to achieving this goal, for which its government and parliament deserve all praise because an investment to knowledge is a good investment, UNECSO Director General Federico Mayor told a news conference on Thursday on conclusion of his three-day visit to Slovenia. He said UNECSO had good co-operation with Slovenia's National UNESCO Office, with joint projects mainly concentrating on fighting aids, drugs and providing adult education. Mayor also welcomed Slovenia's initiative for cooperation with three neighbouring countries in a biosphere-preservation project.
