Statistical Office Conducts First Sampling of Farm Capacities

The National Statistical Office conducted the first sampling of farm capacities in 1997. Survey results, presented Friday in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food, showed the average size of cultivated arable land comparable to European family farms was 430,562 hectares, less than that established in the 1991 survey. The number of family farms comparable to those in Europe was also down to 90,612 from 111,951 in 1991.
