Stock Market Agency's Performance in 1997

The Slovene Stock Market Agency has not issued any permit for deals in securities this year. Currently, 43 stockbrokerage firms hold the permit, which is by three less than at the beginning of 1997. It is the Agency's expectation that the number of stockbrokerage firms will be further reduced, mostly because banks are merging into bank groups, Agency Director Igor Kušar told Tuesday's news conference dedicated to the Agency's performance in 1997.
