Trade Unions Walk Out of Economic Social Council Session

Ljubljana, 19 December - ECONOMIC/SOCIAL/COUNCIL/PROTEST
The Economic Social Council debated Friday several outstanding issues and bills from the government draft austerity package. When no agreement was reached after a 2.5 hour debate on the expense allowance act and the social security contributions amending act, both passed by the parliament on 18 December, trade union representatives passed seven decisions during a break and in protest walked out of the session. Labour Minister Tone Rop did not support their step, but agreed with their decisions.
