Weekly Review of Slovene Economy from December 14 to 20

Ljubljana, 20 December - The Slovene government approved at its last regular session this year several price rises. Electricity prices will increase by 8 percent on 1 January 1998. Prices of wheat from national reserves will be up from 29 Slovene tolars per kilo to SIT 33 as of 1 January 1998. The purchase price of cow milk will rise 9 percent on 5 January 1998, with prices of milk for consumption being decontrolled. At the same time market order will change so as to make milling organizations provide for themselves in the free market for more than half a year. Cow milk purchase prices will go up by nine percent on 5 January, while retail prices will be liberalized.
