Industrial production is only slightly larger than last year despite a fast growth this year. It was increasing at a 1.09-percent monthly rate in October, or 14 percent yearly, thus being 1.3 percent above the October 1996 rate. Mining and processing industries as well as electricity supplies increased their production in October, thus continuing the trend that stared in September. The volume of annual production is likely to remain slightly above last year's (approximately 1 percent), November's issue of Economic Trends writes.
