Annual Review of Cultural Events in 1997

The most distinctive feature of the cultural year 1997 was the number of events and new achievements in practically all areas of art and culture. This is particularly true of events taking place from 15th May until the beginning of July in the framework of the European Cultural Month in the Slovene capital; in Copenhagen, the European Cultural Capital in 1996, for example, 600 events took place throughout the whole year, whereas Ljubljana staged as many as 250 events in less than 50 days, approximately one third of them being performed by guests.
