"The Remains of Remains" of German Minority in Slovenia - Statistical Data

Few in number, atomized, mostly non autochthonous and dynamic in terms of migration are the most typical characteristics of persons of Austrian and German origin in Slovenia and those whose mother tongue is German. These characteristics and the fact that over a half of the population that consider themselves German and Austrian moved to Slovenia, confirm that the majority of members of both ethnic groups can not be classified as remains of a German minority that lived here before the WW II nor as their descendents, the study "Germans" in Slovenia (1918-1955) revealed.
