Weekly Review of Slovene Economy from December 21 to 27

Ljubljana, 27 December - The Slovene Development Company (SRD) hopes the National Assembly will pass the privatization conclusion law according to plans in January next year. The law will introduce instruments to accelerate the privatization process, which has progressed far too slowly in Slovenia, said SRD member of the board Jože Jalin. The draft law also proposes to centralize privatization so as to bring under SRD ownership all unprivatized enterprises within six months after passing the law. Of about 150 unprivatized companies, most are expected by SRD to lack capital and will therefore seek to quickly privatize as sell shares to authorized investment funds (pid) that would take over ownership supervision.
