IMF: Slovenia is Behindhand with Structural Reforms

Finance Minister Mitja Gaspari presented highlights from a report on Slovenia prepared by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Talking to the press on Monday, Gaspari said the IMF directors' board recommended Slovenia to speed up on structural reforms - these are in the opinion of the IMF one year overdue - halt deterioration in the tax sector and cut this year's budget deficit. The latter should be done away with by 1999 at the latest, the Washington institute advises Slovenia.
