Ljubljana, 13 January - SLOVENIA/DIPLOMACY/FRLEC
Slovenia's achievements in the foreign policy field in 1997 were "surprisingly good", "exceeding our actual expectations", Foreign Minister Boris Frlec told a news conference on Tuesday. 1998, however, will be "one of the most difficult" ones both on the domestic scene as well as on the foreign political ground, according to Frlec; Slovenia will start full membership negotiations with the EU on 12 March in Great Britain, it will be engaged in an intensified dialogue with NATO, a new trilateral cooperation between Vienna, Ljubljana and Zagreb is to be set up, likely in March, Slovenia will play an active role within SECI and continue a "constructive dialogue with all neighbours" and "a reorganization of the Ministry" of Foreign Affairs.
