Renovated Italian-Language School Dante Alighieri Opened in Izola

Presidents of Slovenia and Italy, Milan Kučan and Oscar Luigi Scalfaro on Saturday afternoon attended the opening of the renovated Italian-language school Dante Alighieri in Izola on the Slovene coast. "What is special in today's event," Milan Kučan said in his address, "is on the hand the fact that it is the result of the will and desire of Slovenia to make concrete steps to the benefit of its population to enable transition to a learning society capable of giving an equal and self-conscious contribution in shaping the civilization of the third millennium, while on the other hand it is the fact that the region is also inhabited by members of the Italian ethnic community.
