Statistics Office director Tomaž Smrekar resigns

Ljubljana, 10 October - Tomaž Smrekar has resigned as director general of the country's Statistics Office (SURS), the STA learnt from SURS on Tuesday, while SURS declined to provide the reason. However, the resignation comes after SURS came under fire for significantly downgrading Slovenia's GDP growth figure for 2022 from 5.4% to 2.5% on 31 August.
