Frlec: Conditions for EU and NATO 'More or Less Clear"
Ljubljana, 10 February - DIPLOMACY/MINISTER/FRLEC
Slovenia will begin negotiations on full membership in the European Union on 12 March in London. A few days earlier, on 4 March, it will present in Brussels the situation in the country in the light of its application for membership in the North Atlantic Alliance. Conditions for accession to both integrations are "more or less clear" according to Foreign Minister Boris Frlec and should be followed by Slovenia. The decision on potential second round NATO expansion is to be taken in spring 1999 in Washington, Foreign Minister Frlec told in his regular monthly news conference. He gave a positive assessment of the foreign policy achievements, in particular the progress in the dialogue with neighbouring countries and Germany.
