The Slovenes were rather offended when they were left at the doorstep of NATO. In a word, "we are perfectly O.K." and it is merely a tangle of American interests which is to blame that Slovenia was not admitted into NATO. And then one day an intelligence van had gone astray to Croatia and the Slovenes eventually got a concrete explanation why they were not welcome. In diplomatic language the event could be formulated in a proof of Slovenia's "insufficient maturity" for NATO, while the Slovenes can tell each other privately and in a more honest and simple way that their army is pitiful, Delo comments in its Saturday issue.
