Primorski dnevnik: When Peace Changes Face

It may sound incredible, but Washington is most likely hoping to see UN Secretary General Kofi Annan fail to convince the Iraqis in his Baghdad mission. This, however, is just wishful thinking as Saddam Hussein has certainly realized that by making concessions he may hinder the American Middle East policy without being humiliated. Iraq can come out of the conflict with a high raised head, leaving the United States the main looser in a peaceful resolution of the current crisis, writes Trieste-based Slovene language newspaper Primorski dnevnik on Thursday.
