Slovenia is Getting Old - Over 5000 People Aged over 90
Ljubljana, 20 February - There were 1,986,055 inhabitants in Slovenia in end-September 1997, of which 969,103 men and 1,016,952 women (47,849 more). The number of people over 90 years of age, which doubled since 1981, exceeded 5000 for the first time that month. The exact number was 5097, or 0.26 percent of the whole Slovene population. 44 persons were 100 or more years old in end-September, of which 41 women and 3 men, according to the National Statistical Office.
