Slovenia's Lively Contacts with North and South of Europe
Ljubljana, 20 February - Slovene diplomacy is strongly engaged in preparations for a series of bilateral meetings with officials from Northern, Southern and Western Europe as well as from NATO. The first bilateral meeting, to take place on 24 February, will be a visit by Romania's Foreign Minister Andrei Gabriel Plesu to Ljubljana. Later in the week NATO Secretary General Javier Solana is scheduled to start a two-day visit on 26 February. Only a day later French Foreign Minister Hubert Vedrine is to pay a short visit to Slovenia. On 2 and 3 March head of the Finnish diplomacy Tarja Halonen will be visiting Ljubljana, with Latvia's Foreign Minister Valdis Birkavs arriving for a two-day visit here on 4 March. After a visit of Slovenia's Foreign Minister Boris Frlec was postponed at the beginning of February, the minister will pay a working visit to London on 26 February to meet with his British counterpart Robin Cook. State Secretary in the Foreign Ministry Franco Juri will be on a working visit to Macedonia on 23 and 24 February. Between 4 and 6 March, Slovenia will be visited by a delegation of the Spain's autonomous province of Basque Provinces.
