Bank of Slovenia Attains 1997 Monetary Policy Objective

The Bank of Slovenia Council adopted its assessment on achieving monetary policy objectives in 1997 and the 1997 balance sheet, Bank of Slovenia Governor France Arhar told a news conference on Wednesday. The Council established in a session on Tuesday that the 1997 monetary policy objective was achieved but said the 0.9 percentage point surplus was of symbolic significance. Actual movements namely indicate that the M3 monetary supply expanded by 22.9 percent in the Q4 1996-1997 period, which is a 0.9 percentage points increase.
