Delo: Posočje - Marginal in Slovene Consciousness

Ljubljana, 14 April - Land rocked, houses crumbled to pieces, cracks appeared in the walls. The mythological fish pharaonica, a medieval creature that sets off earthquakes and other national disasters, again raised its voice in the Soča valley. This was not the first, nor the last time, it did havoc along the Soča river. And yet, there are still no seismological and other sophisticated instruments to provide the people with information which means survival. The Soča region, Posočje, thus remains marginal in Slovene consciousness, writes Delo in its Topic of the Day editorial, commenting Sunday's earthquake that devastated the region.
