Another podium for Nika Prevc in Japan

Tokyo, 26 January - Slovenia's ski jumper Nika Prevc won third place in Zao, Japan on Sunday in what was another podium finish for her in recent days. She has increased her lead in the World Cup overall standings ahead of Germany's Katharina Schmid.

Austria's Jacqueline Seifriedsberger won today's event at the Japanese ski resort, while Norwegian ski jumper Eirin Maria Kvandal finished second.

The differences between the top three competitors were small, with Prevc, the reigning crystal globe winner, finishing 1.2 points behind the second-placed and 4.1 points behind the winner.

With 893 points in the overall standings, the 19-year-old Slovenian is now 45 points ahead of her rival Schmid, who finished 12th today. The two are practically the only two competitors left who have realistic chances of taking the Crystal Globe this season.

Prevc retook the overall lead on Friday when she bagged a convincing win in Zao.

"I'm very happy with today's jumps. Practically the only thing missing was precision on the take-off ramp," she said.

There were two more Slovenians who secured points today - Ema Klinec in 15th place and Taja Bodlaj in 21st.
